Delaware Small Business Development Center (DSBDC) to add specialized service for Hispanic/Latino business community

José Somalo Joins the DSBDC as a Bilingual Business Analyst
NEWARK, DE - The Delaware Small Business Development Center, a leader in providing assistance for Delaware's small businesses, today announced the appointment of José Somalo as a business analyst, focusing on serving the needs of the Hispanic/Latino business community. José will be located at the network's Sussex county center at 103 W. Pine Street in Georgetown, but will also serve Kent and New Castle Counties. Somalo brings to the Delaware SBDC more than 20 years of management and business experience. He is also fluent in both English and Spanish.
Somalo was employed in several management positions for Perdue Farms Incorporated during the most recent 13 years of his career. He is also the founder of Hoy en Delaware Newspaper, Delaware's first Bilingual newspaper, which has been in operation for the past 11 years.

La Esperanza offers many programs for the low-income and non-English speaking community. Jose will spend a portion of his time at the new center providing business assistance to this population.

The Delaware SBDC creates value for Delaware by engaging, challenging and guiding businesses to grow, prosper and achieve their goals. The DSBDC provides current business information, training programs and business advisory services at four locations throughout Delaware. Many services are free; others have a nominal fee. Areas of assistance include business research, loan packaging, feasibility analysis, business valuation, marketing and financial analysis, and helping businesses locate and bid on government contracts.
The Delaware SBDC is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration,The University of Delaware Lerner College of Business and Economics, the Delaware Economic Development Office and Delaware State University.
