2008 Hispanic Student Recognition Program

The Hispanic Student Recognition Program (HSRP) is hosted by the Latin American Community Center, Inc. (LACC).  The awards ceremony will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 3:00 p.m., at University of Delaware’s Clayton Hall, Newark.  We are requesting your participation and support by way of nominating a student, providing financial support, volunteering and/or attending the event.

This special event recognizes and acknowledges high achieving Hispanic students in Delaware by being nominated for the following categories: academics, sports, school/community service, science/technology and the arts.  All nominees who attend the ceremony are presented with a commemorative medal and category winners are also recognized.  Only two high school and two middle school students (female and male) will be selected as Outstanding Hispanic Student of the Year. These students must excel in all categories to receive cash prizes, trophies, and medals.

Please take the time now to nominate Hispanic students in your school, community or church. The application can be photocopied. Click here for application. Parents, family and friends are also encouraged to nominate candidates. The deadline to receive nominations is Monday, February 11, 2008

Thank you in advance for taking the time to recognize deserving Latino youth. We hope to see you at the event on Saturday April 12, 2008. To make donations, volunteer, RSVP or have any questions regarding the nomination process, please call the LACC, Sindy Ortiz at (302) 655-7338 extension 216.   Financial donations can be made to the order of “Latin American Community Center” designated for the Hispanic Student Recognition Program.
