In the past few months, the campaigns of Bill Lee and Charlie Copeland have taken a cue from their national counterpart that a losing campaign should resort to attempts to scare the electorate into not voting for their opponent. This is not appropriate nationally and is certainly not appropriate in Delaware.

Bill Lee takes the low road, from defaming Jack's character and calling him a liar to falsely claiming he does not account for how to pay for his proposals. Jack Markell is a man of integrity who is running for governor because of his belief that our state can do better. He is the only candidate running for governor who has put out concrete detailed plans for Delawareans to know where he stands.

Matt Denn, who Copeland claims is in the pocket of the insurance companies, is the first Insurance Commissioner to use the office to put consumers first and take on the insurance companies. But Charlie does not want people to see who Matt really is, which is why mattdenn.org and mattdenn.net redirect to Charlie's website. Copeland continues to promote mischaracterizations, such as pretending he was a long-time supporter of the Bluewater wind project or with his latest puppet attack ad.

Matt Denn is one of the most genuine and compassionate public officials I know. He will make the Office of Lieutenant Governor into something worthwhile and improve Delaware for our children.

These negative and false attacks to defame Jack and Matt speak not to them, but to the character of Bill Lee and Charlie Copeland. The only type of smear that belongs in Delaware is the kind one puts on bagels. On November 4, I will be casting my vote for Jack Markell and Matt Denn because I am ready to move our state forward.
