Children’s Beach House Event

Lewes, Delaware ~ July 06, 2010: Committee Chair, Eileen Clark, along with all other committee members are wrapping up the final planning stages for the 8th Annual Beach House Barbecue scheduled for Saturday, August 28th from 6:30p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Children’s Beach House located at 1800 Bay Avenue in Lewes.

As always, the event is a fundraiser benefiting the Children’s Beach House Programs that serve at-risk children, ages 7-18 throughout Delaware through arts and crafts, boating, kayaking, swimming, sports, group activities, and environmental education. Through these programs and activities, the children are exposed to enrichment for speech, language, and social development.

“Our wheels have been spinning over the last few months preparing for this year’s event whose theme was named after one of America’s favorite pastimes,” stated Committee Chair, Eileen Clark. The event titled, “A Bicycle Built for You,” will feature beach cruisers, motorcycles, mopeds, mountain bikes, tricycles, scooters, and more! Guests are sure to enjoy the unique decorations, live music by the Press Gang, a gourmet menu to be enjoyed by all, and tasty libations compliments of Margarita Man, Dogfish Head Brew, and Fordham Brewing Company.

Aside from the food and entertainment, the 8th Annual Beach House Barbecue will also feature another unique auction featuring the works of 13 local artists. Lynne McKay, Gary Crowl, Connie Miller, Faith Lord, Nick Serratore, Jean Doran, Steve Rogers, Aina Negaard Nammack, Kim Klabe, Sherry Lee Biele, Tara Funk Grim, Damon Pla, and Carolyn Freas have each cleverly customized wooden benches that will be auctioned the evening of the event. These hand painted benches can currently be previewed at several locations in Rehoboth and Lewes or online at www.cbhinc.org.
