Ribbon cutting ceremony at La Red Health Center draws praise for a model vision and facility
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Some call it a field of dreams. Others describe it as a miracle in the making.
But everyone at the April 23 ribbon cutting for La Red Health Center concurred that the evolution of the organization from a 24-hour hotline to a 25,000-square-foot facility was the result of true collaboration.
“We couldn’t have done this without the support of the individuals and organizations that believe in the need for heath care access for all in Sussex County,” said Brian S. Olson, chief executive director at La Red Health Center.

Over 250 Latina Community members attend second annual Vida! Latina Breast Health forum in Georgetown
GEORGETOWN, DE (March 30, 2012)—This past Saturday over 250 community members participated in the Second Annual VIDA!™ Latina Breast Health Forum sponsored by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC). This free event was held at the Grace United Methodist Church and educated participants about breast cancer screenings, treatment and survivorship.
The forum, which was presented in Spanish, was not just for women as it included information about prostate cancer and general health.

Georgetown/Seaford, DE – La Red Health Center welcomes Dr. Marisel Santiago to its Georgetown and Seaford sites.
Dr. Santiago joined La Red Health Center in January 2012. She received her Doctor in Medicine from the Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and completed her internship at the Mayaguez Medical Center, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
Dr. Santiago is a bilingual pediatrician who has lived and worked in the Sussex County area for the past several years, and as a result is very aware of the health care needs of its residents.
