Delaware Tech trains event planners
During the 10-session certificate course, students learned what it takes to plan business and corporate events, weddings, and other special events. Topics included promotion, coordination, planning, design, and marketing.
Students also received suggestions for setting up a home office, determining client preferences, and preparing a budget.
The course was taught by Donna Duffy who is co-owner of Memorable Milestones, Inc., a successful event and travel-planning business.

Ronald McDonald House Charities/HACER Scholarship Program Selection Committee Meeting that took place Friday
Philadelphia – On April 30, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) and the McDonald’s® Owner/Operators of the Greater Philadelphia Region gathered leaders from the Latino community at the Antonia Pantoja Charter School in Philadelphia, to select fifteen Latino high school seniors to be awarded up to $5,000 RMHC/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources® (HACER®) college scholarships. Over the past decade, more than $300,000 in scholarships has been awarded in the Greater Philadelphia region.

Students engaged in a variety of fun and cultural activities at the annual Roady Fest Carnival on April 14 and International Day Celebration on April 15 at Delaware Technical & Community College, Owens Campus in recognition of National Community College Month.
Community colleges provide affordable access to a postsecondary education, prepare students for transfer to four-year universities, supply workforce development and skills training, and offer noncredit programs to the community.

Governor Launches Weekly TV - Video - YouTube Messages to Delawareans
(Dover, DE) – Governor Jack Markell at noon today launched his first weekly video message, sharing how some local governments, schools, institutions of higher education and other public entities joined the state in a "reverse auction" to drive down their energy costs and save over $13 million dollars with dramatically expanding their use of clean energy sources.
At noon every Friday, a new video message will be posted to the Governor’s website and YouTube channel and be distributed to Delaware media outlets.

Questionnaire Assistance Centers/Be Counted Sites will only be OPEN until Monday, April 19
1. If you know someone in Sussex County who has NOT received their Census form yet, please encourage them to visit a Questionnaire Assistance Center/Be Counted Site to pick up a blank form in English or in Spanish. They can complete the form, with their address, and mail it in. We would like to encourage them to pick up their form THIS WEEK. There are Questionnaire Assistance Centers/Be Counted Sites in each town, but they will only be OPEN until Monday, April 19. After that, people will have to wait until Census takers visit their house to participate in the Census.

Proclamación del Día del Census por el Gobernador Jack Markell.
El pasado día 1 de Abril en la localidad de Dover (DE), el Gobernador del Estado Jack Markell proclamó en el marco de la Asamblea Legislativa del Estado el "Día del Census" (Census Day Proclamation).
