Dover Central Middle School students and friends help People's place
On June 8th, 2010, the Dover Central Middle School held their first annual “Runway to Give-Away” Fashion Show to benefit the People’s Place SAFE program. Mr. Al Roach, a careers elective teacher at Central Middle School, along with Silent Scream Productions staff and other interested students put the show together in only two weeks time.
Approximately 40 students, their parents, some friends and staff partnered together to make the show a great success and collected clothing and other miscellaneous items for the women and children in the SAFE shelters.

Meditation Classes in Georgetown
The Georgetown Public Library will host free monthly meditation classes at 6:30 pm on Thursday May 27. The one hour sessions include three segments: relaxed attention exercises, guided visualization and sustained quiet meditation. Designed for any level of experience, the group encourages patrons to try daily meditation disciplines for which research shows positive correlations to improved health and memory. Classes are facilitated by Lois Dorman, newest staff member of the Georgetown Public Library. For more information, call the library at 856 7958.
Catholic Charities offers its first Naturalization Workshop
May 18, 2010 – (Wilmington, DE) – Catholic Charities Inc. Immigration Program will hold its first Naturalization Workshop on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Catholic Charities Main Office, 2601 W 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
This is a one-day community event to help Permanent Residents complete the necessary forms to become United States citizens. Volunteer attorneys, BIA-accredited representatives, and trained volunteers will be on-site for consultation. The agency will accept applicants between 8:30 a.m. and noon. The ReStore had a cinco de mayo celebration on Wednesday, May 5th from 10am to 5pm. They had decorations and were having a sale on appliances and furniture as well as refreshments from noon to 3.

Sussex County Habitat for Humanity Announces National Women’s Build Week
Sussex County Habitat for Humanity will celebrate National Women Build Week on May 1st as women from across Sussex County gather on Gibson Street in Laurel. The women will install blueboard installation designed to help Habitat achieve Energy Star certification for the twin townhome. The group plans to take a lunch break at 11:30 to hear comments from Delaware officials and dignitaries supporting Women Build.

Be Strong will be Offered by The Wellness Community- DE
The Wellness Community-DE will offer Be Strong on Tuesdays at noon. This four- week series is designed for people affected by cancer and will begin on Tuesday, May 4.
The gentle conditioning class will help participants regain their strength and feel more energized by using stretchable resistance bands. The program will be led by Jo Wilkins, B.S., M.S., a former Instructor/ Trainer for the YMCA of The USA. Jo also served two terms on the Governor’s Council for Lifestyle and Fitness.
