Posada is the Spanish word for “to take shelter” or “ to take in.” Catholics throughout Latin America celebrate a novena before Christmas of meditations and feasts inviting participants to give shelter to the newborn King in their lives. We are pleased to announce that the annual Guadalupe Torch pilgrimage will come to St. Paul Church, WIlmington on Friday, December 4. It is expected to arrive with a welcoming ceremony at 5:00 PM and mass at 7:00 PM. This pilgrimage already started in October at the Basillica of Guadalupe in Mexico City and will conclude at St. Patrick Cathedral, New York, on December 12.
All are welcome to participate in several ways: greeting, praying, singing, running from Baltimore on 12/4 or to Pennsylvania on 12/5, cooking, offering 2 or....

La congregación de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en Roxana celebró el Día de los Muertos en la misa del domingo 1 de noviembre
Con casi 200 feligreses, la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe celebró el Día de los Muertos en la misa del domingo 1 de noviembre.
Esta parroquia está ubicada en Roxana, en el sureste del condado de Sussex, y es una iglesia misión dependiente de St. Ann, en Bethany Beach.
Se preparó un altar dedicado a los muertos con ofrendas, como es costumbre en México. El padre Johnny Laura bendizo el altar y ofició la misa en español, como lo hace todos los domingos a la 1 pm. También ofrece clases de inglés antes de la misa, a las 12 pm.

Catholic officials & judge meet in secrecy; Abuse victims respond
Public court proceedings are the best way to protect the innocent and expose the truth. We're appalled that Catholic and court officials would meet behind closed doors. Secrecy only benefits predators and those who shield predators. Let's hope this troubling secrecy won't become a pattern.
We aren't lawyers and may not fully understand the intricacies of Chapter 11 proceedings. But we know all too well, from painful personal experience over decades, that the Catholic hierarchy has repeatedly exploited secrecy for self-serving ends while endangering kids in the process.

Response to Diocese of Wilmington filing for Bankruptcy
Citizens of Delaware, especially the Catholic ones, should be wary about the motives of Bishop Malooly in filing for bankruptcy. It seems that he wants to keep the truth hidden regarding how much diocesan officials knew and how little they did to protect the children.
It is highly suspicious that the bankruptcy is filed on the eve of the trial that would have allowed the truth to be exposed and diocesan officials to be cross examined under oath where they would have had difficulty explaining why the children were not protected instead of the predators.
Clearly the bishop has lots of option....
